My Desktop - Opinions Please :)

Hello all!

Basically I've just finished snazzing up my desktop, been using Ubuntu for about 2 months now and finally thought it was time. I'm just looking for everyone's opinions, suggestions, anything. I know its not very professional looking but it's my first time at customising a desktop to this extent. Before you let rip on me, and please if you feel the need to be, be brutal, let me just say two things:

1) Your gonna see the microsap office icon to the right, I gotta use office apps as I'm doing a degree that requires .docx and associated office filetypes.
2) I've tried to keep it simpleish as my girlfriend uses my laptop, and shes used to vista and puppy linux, so had to keep the best interests at heart.

I'm looking forward to reading your opinions on this, also let me apologise if I have broken any rules by posting this thread or any content in doing so.

Many thanks,

MM

Not bad for a beginner! Too busy for my own tastes, but then we are all different. Keep up the good work, and hope you continue to have fun with it.

Welcome aboard!

I like it! I don't think it's really to busy... but those are some pretty big icons. Wouldn't even need my glasses to see those monsters! But, like oz said, we have all have different tastes and as long as it works for your tastes and preferences, then it's just right!

By the way... how would it be a violation of rules? Screenies is what this thread is for, dude!

You are using OpenOffice right? It does support docx etc.

Been extremely preoccupied with other things lately, so it took me a while to get around to it. But yes, I recognize it. Just looking at it drops my bp 10 points.
Thanks, Jay!

Since I don't have time to test the real thing, I made my desktop into a reasonably convincing XFCE lookalike

KDE 4.2.3 on Debian Sid.
