XFCE on my laptop, KDE 4.2.1 on my desktop. I'm surprised XFCE doesn't have it's own entry in the poll. If I were forced to use just one DE, it would be XFCE, for speed, stability, and thunar rocks as a file manager.

I originally posted that I preferred JWM over XFCE. I may be changing my mind on that. I have been playing with a LiveCD of Dreamlinux, and I am coming around to XFCE as I get more accustomed to it. My next computer may have XFCE as the default with Dreamlinux. I have also been playing with Tiny Core Linux (I'm using it now.). Tiny Core uses JWM. Tiny Core is super fast (faster than Puppy). However, just like my vote, GNOME is still my default. Just goes to show that variety is nice.

I was actually at the JWM website yesterday, it looks pretty cool and I might have a go at it one of these days.

jwm is incredibly quick and amazingly small, especially considering it has a built in panel and system tray. I'm too lazy to spend time configuring it though, so I prefer openbox (usually with lxde) with obconf and obmenu for my older laptop. Check out Slitaz as well for a nice tiny distro using jwm: SliTaz GNU/Linux - Home page It's about 25mb, half of which is taken up by a slimmed down firefox. More functional than Tiny Core, and also faster than Puppy.

GNOME for me. KDE encourages me to fiddle about too much, plus I enjoy the look and feel of GNOME more.

I'm using Fluxbox on AntiX as I answer, Ihave Mint XFCE on my laptop, and Gnome on Ubuntu on another partition. So far, if I had to pick one, I'd use XFCE. That could change as I get used to Fluxbox.

IceWM for years now. I started using it back in 2002 with Mandrake 8.2 and it still serves my purposes perfectly. It is very light, highly and easily configurable and as far as I've been able to determine (from the many WMs I've tried), the fastest. It does just enough to keep me productive and stays out of my way as their website purports. I even use it as the default WM running under Gnome on my Ubuntu boxes. If you like "eye candy" stay away from IceWM as it is the antithesis of Compiz-Fusion.

KDE 4.2.x at the moment. I'm impressed with the vast improvement from the initial 4.0.x release.
