Yeah, from what I've read The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie had a huge first day on Friday, a record breaker in fact, but they said that the following days over the weekend were quite a bit slower. I suppose the author of the books, Stephenie Meyer, is grinning from ear to ear all the way to the bank.

With an old movie coupon I rented " Beowulf " which is not my usual kind of movie. Maybe I need to rent other movies that I am not normally interested in seeing because I liked Beowulf with its great special effects.

2012 was definitely worth watching. The special effects are just awesome, even though sometimes they're a bit overdone
But that movie is definitely an eyecatcher.

I watched two good adrenaline-pumpers last night. "Taken", with Liam Neeson, then "The Last House on the Left" starring a cast of capable but lesser-known actors. "Taken" addresses sex-trade abduction on a personal level. I was able to suspend disbelief enough to thoroughly enjoy this well-directed 'venge-fest. Though suspension of disbelief is not really necessary, considering all the abductions that are occurring in the real world. The movie was directed by frenchman Pierre Morel. I'll be keeping my eyes open for more of his work. Liam Neeson got to show off his martial arts chops in this one.

"The Last House on the Left" also involved abduction, but diverged widely from the straight-ahead kick-assery of "Taken". Most LFO'ers, I'll assume, know the plot of TLHOTL. The original version was released a number of years ago. TLHOTL is also about sexual brutality, survival, and revenge. I actually felt a little squeamish during the first half of the film. But by the second half, I was ready to see some well-deserved payback. Oddly enough, though the subject matter was darker and more graphic in "The Last House on the Left", "Taken" pushed the adrenaline-meter much harder. I credit that to the screenplays, and to the difference between directors. TLHOTL was directed by horror-maestro Wes Craven. I'll probably end up purchasing "Taken" once the price on blu-ray drops to a reasonable level.

Q.V. I thought that the title " last house on the left " was familiar to me and I found a copy of that movie with the other movies that I bought from Hollywood video went they closed. I watched it last night. It was label as based on a true story which is quite sad. Unfortunately young people are not aware of the sick humans waiting to prey on them!!

    A Christmas Carol!

Although I know how the plot is going to end, I was impressed by the acting of Jim Carey. He was able to maximize on all his countless facial expressions. He really did a great job, IMO .

Nice job also on the effects. I know linux programs had something to do with all those

I highly recommend the movie " Fracture " starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling. I will be buying this movie on my next trip into Manhattan. If you appreciate great acting, and a great story line, you will really like this movie.
