I absolutely loved the books. In fact, I still like to re-read them. But I also loved the movies.
But when I first watched them, I did notice quite a few things missing. The special editions really do include a lot more, though. While there are still a few things missing from the story, there are a whole lot of extra details that bring you closer into the movie than I thought was going to happen.

Not a waste of money at all.

The Aristocrats was recommended on Ubuntu Network as the funniest movie ever seen. I could not rent it anywhere so I bought a copy for $11.00 . I cooked myself something to eat and sat down to watch it. Trying to eat while this movie is on is not a wise thing to be doing, I learned, because the movie has comics describing incest, bestiality, excrement, etc over and over. Parts of the movie are funny though.

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong, IMO. But I'll defend your right to be wrong! If you want to talk about "close to the book," watch Fight Club. Nearly word-for-word, scene-for-scene. Made reading the book after the fact quite anti-climactic.

I'll come clean; I'm guilty of a bit of gentle trolling there. I have never made it all the way through a Boll film!! Sorry I do wonder what I'd think of the Jackon LOTR Travesty if I wasn't such a fan of the book. I've never even seen the third one.

Fight Club is a great film though I've never read the book.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

True enough. I was never really a fan of the books (although I loved The Hobbit as a standalone novel). I guess from a big fan's perspective the liberties taken might seem like heresy.

Fight Club is a great film though I've never read the book.
Personally, I don't think it's worth reading if you've seen the movie. The ending is slightly different, but not shockingly so. I've read one other Palanhuik book (Choke) and it was pretty good, although there were obvious similarities to Fight Club. I never saw the movie adaptation of it.

In Bruges was a good movie, I wish it had a different ending though.
I also saw The Curious case of Benjamin Button, that was just a terrific movie all the way around,

I just recently watched No Country for Old Men. Didn't know it won Best Picture until not long before I watched it. I thought it was very good. Winner of Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, and one other award. If you're a fan of movies, you probably know.
