Days Like today I really appreciate LFO
I got on a general forum site about three weeks ago. I have never been on such a cut-throat site before. They have all these no-flaming policies on the forums, but in the chats, they can verbally thrash you all they want.
I was in the chat with the person who created the forum site last night. It was me, him, and his best friend. We were talking about advertising and how I didn't blame him for adding it to the site to turn a profit. He denied it, his friend did, too; and I flat out refused to believe it. In the end I just told them that it really didn't bother me and that I was just use Adblock in FireFox to block it.
Well, today I have warnings coming in from the friend for posts that are "off-topic," but really aren't. When I tried to inquire about it, he just told me it was off topic and hasn't responded to me since. Also, ever since that conversation (that I thought was just between the three of us), the VIP's on the forums keep calling me "non-VIPer" and to go away.
Anyway, I'm not complaining. It's really sad that they act like that. I am just trying to give an idea of how much sh*t goes on in other forums and how grateful I am that LFO is nothing like that.
Thanks, everyone!Using Linux since June 2007

Sounds really exclusive to me. Kinda cliqueish. Sounds like you didn't miss much there.Well, today I have warnings coming in from the friend for posts that are "off-topic," but really aren't. Sounds like you struck a nerve. Oh well. Life's too short, right? Sounds like you did the right thing.

Thanks, guys. I was talking to the mod last night regarding everything and he said he had a really horrifying day yesterday and that he was run into the ground.
I responded all sympathetically, but deep down (on my side of the computer screen lol), I was smiling and laughing at him.

Is this forum public? Maybe you should post up a link and we can all go along and take the mickey out of them?
On second thought, perhaps not. Fortunately we're all grown-ups here...Linux user #126863 - see http://linuxcounter.net/
