KDE 4.2 - one week in
It is now running flawlessly, I have not had a problem with it since the day of the install. No crashes, no glitches, it working flawlessly.
As a note Suse 11.1 x64 edition with the KDE 4.0.X installed, and then upgraded to 4.2
I am sorry some folks are still having problems with it, I have had it run well on my system.

That's good to hear. I'm getting the itch again but I wasn't sure if I'd have to uninstall it again in a day or two. I might give it a try tomorrow.

Glad it works on your machine. I'm still waiting for it to work on mine.

Very glad to hear that it's working well for you, Distorted Humor!

Like the knucklehead that I am, each time someone says that it's working well, I load it up again trying to see if it works so well for me, but then it never does.
Hope you continue to have fun with it.

Well I am sorry that you guys are having a problem with KDE - it seems that the only people who are having a decent time with KDE 4.X is the Suse users, and its a bit unstable if I am messing around with widgets, but as soon as it is locked then I have a very stable system. Then again, I mostly use my computer for Web, email, MP3s, and the other basic stuff.

Yeah, I think that the suse devs often do quite a bit of patching and other fixes in order to present a better product to their users. Glad to hear it's working out well for you, and hope it continues.

I tried KDE 4.2 first on openSuse (I'm not a Suse person, but I like to try out various distros from time to time), and it was mostly okay except that sometimes I'd have no sound in flash apps. When I tried to fix that I borked KDE. (This is probably due to a combination of pulseaudio bugs and the fact that I'm no good with Yast.) I've abandoned that install, but I'll maybe try it again when 11.2 comes out.
Anyway, I have KDE 4.2 running perfectly on Arch. I like it, and I never really liked KDE before.noobus in perpetuum

I've had a fairly successful time running 4.2 but I have posted about 4 bugs including fluctuations in wireless connection (strength). I also decided to install the nightly build instead of the one from kde repos because it included a bunch of cool stuff like widgets from google automatically.
Still needs another release or two before it's ready for the general public but it's getting there....I think I'll be sticking with gnome regardless but having the dual boot is niceBodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17

There was a bunch of updates that came down in the last couple of days and I have found that one or two of them have had an affect on Wireless. My test computer used to show "2 bars" when I was sitting within 5 feet of the router. Now it shows full power. I have not tested it for very long yet, but I think that the change is more than just cosmetic. I think it really is working better.
Having said that, I have found KDE4 is simply not as good as GNOME for a number of reasons. It boils down to how much you have to do (how many clicks or whatever) to get something done. I have used a lot of different systems and after years of using Macs in particular I gave up on them for the same reason. Some Mac users will argue to the point of silliness that it is not true but if you ever video record them and play it back so they can see themselves, you might actually convert some of them to "other" platforms. Maybe even Windows.
I think I gave KDE4 a reasonably long test period, but that is what I concluded. I will leave it on the test computer for now, but the testing is really "over" as far as I am concerned.
