Hey, I want to upgrade! Can I do it safely by just changing "etch" to "lenny" in my apt sources list and using:
    Code:
    apt-get update
    apt-get dist-upgrade
or is there a better way to do it?

That is a lot of jargon there, little old lady.
I guess you'll find the answer on the debian website, if not now, then in a few days.

That would do it! Let us know what you think on it!

Thanks, Charles. That's a mine of information! Well, for the benefit of anyone else who just wants to try apt-get dist-upgrade, Debian recommend using aptitude instead because apparently it's safer than apt-get. And they recommend a three-stage update: first apt and aptitude themselves, then a simple upgrade and finally the dist-upgrade. So that's what I'm going to do when I can get my courage up sufficiently. Well, at least I've got Ubuntu available as a rescue system if I go badly wrong.
