Question KDE 4.2 desktop replacing explorer in Vista/XP?

KDE 4.2 has a windows installer right? So, in theory, shouldn't I be able to install KDE 4.2 in Vista or XP and completely replace the craptastic excuse for a windows manager explorer.exe?

    Has anyone tried this?

I don't know if this is ready to fly yet, but yes, I heard that this was planned for the KDE4 series. It should run on WIndows and Mac OS as a replacement window manager.

so i should be disable the most bloated POS part of the micro$oft os and have it be KDE 4.2 or 4.3. Thats what i'm shooting for, total disablement of the bloatware that is explorer.exe
