    Which distros ( beside ubuntu ) have a partition manager?

    Are we talking about a partition manager in the installer proper or just available? If it's the latter, just about any major distribution offers some form of partition manager and almost all of them offer fdisk.

    If you mean which ones do the partitioning for you in the installer, I know openSuSE, Fedora and Mandriva will do it. The last version of Xandros I used did too. Mepis as well. The list goes on.

    Thanks, TechieMoe! I just found out, through my recent install of Ubuntu, that there was such a thing as a partition manager. In the future even a novice, like me, may take a curious look at some of the other distros.

    Puppy Linux has one. I have not tested it yet.

    Just keep a cd copy of gparted or parted magic on hand to do partitioning first. Then when you install your chosen distro, the partitions will be ready.
