Any anime or manga geeks out there?
Hey there,
Anybody else here enjoy anime/manga? If so, then to you I ask, "What anime or manga are you currently following and what do you think of it?"
As for me, I'm still following Bleach (the English-dubbed version) and also just starting watching Code Geass (Eng-dub too). I just finished reading the Cowboy Bebop manga a few days ago as well.
Well, what about you?

I haven't read any manga, but I do enjoy anime. I love the Big O, Cowboy Bebop, and Ranma 1/2. I've seen the first generation of Robotech and loved it. The Macross Plus movie is one of my favorite movies to watch when I'm drinking. And IMO, Fullmetal Alchemist rates high up there with Babylon 5 among the best stuff that's ever been on TV.
Light stories like Ranma are just a lot of fun to watch, but what I really enjoy about the heavier stuff (like Big O and FMA) is that they require a different way of thinking from the viewer. Abstract concepts are introduced that are not worked out for you. You have to figure them out and depending on what you decide, the story will be affected accordingly. The story writing has to be exquisite to make this work. And the music is often awesome, as well.

Artesia, what would you have to say about "The Big O" to somebody who has been slightly interested in the series?
I had done a little research and review on the show a while ago to see if it might be worth watching and I found that a few people/places felt that most of the first season didn't have much of a storyline and instead had a more episodic style; focusing mostly on how each character manages to live without having any previous memories, per episode. I did hear that the second season took a more arc-based approach which is how I usually like (although I did like Cowboy Bebop).
My opinion = the shows seems to be "so/so" and I'm not too interested in it just yet.
What do you think?

I miss Samurai Jack and Invader Zim. Lately just watching Hell Girl, and re-watching anything by Akira Kurasowa.
I Like Ghost in the Shell. Dead Leaves was one of the funniest most different made type of manga I ever seen. The story line was awesome as were the charachters.

It was way different than the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show which also has a special place in my heart. Named a female pitbull I used to have Natasha.Linux Registered User # 475019

The first season is somewhat episodic, but it's building a necessary foundation and introducing many characters. And then, when you watch it a second time around you realize that the main story concepts from season two were actually introduced very early on, it just wasn't obvious yet that they were significant at that point.
I do think that if you enjoyed Bebop, you would enjoy Big O, as well.

I just finished a light-hearted comedy series called Hare + Guu. It's cute, and not terribly deep. I'm currently plodding through a 6-episode OVA sponsored by Cup Noodle called Freedom. The art is done by the fellow who did Akira. I wish I could say the story was compelling, but it's not. Entertaining for the first 3 episodes, but after that it drags.
My favorites are Fooly Cooly, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Looking at my Netflix queue I'm about to try and get into Outlaw Star and Blood+. These are all anime, by the way. I never really got into the print manga.Registered Linux user #270181

The Guyver
3x3 Eyes
Angel CopIf we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
