Talking Leo the laptop is wireless, at last!

Since I got on board with linux little over a year ago (Gutsy, at the time), I've been trying to get my laptop wireless. I knew it was possible because when I first bought it, it had Vista and wireless worked. But my card is an Atheros AR5007RG and this was problematic.

As the months passed, Leo hosted several rounds of Atheros vs. madwifi and Atheros vs. ndiswrapper. These were repeated when I switched to Hardy. Several of you spent time helping me fight these battles.

Last week, I finally got around to upgrading to Ibex. It provided a restricted driver for Atheros cards. I had to disable that and install the linux-backports-modules package but right after I rebooted, wireless was showing up, enabled, and it took me about 10 seconds to connect to my network.

    YAY!!

    Nice work!

Glad you finally got that sorted, it might make Linux a bit more practical for everyday use. But for your long time commitment to getting this working, myself and the bananas would like to salute you!
