    Linux for vintage laptop

I just joined this forum to see if other people have the same trouble as I to make newer destributions run on older HW. Are Linux becomming overloaded with graphics and gadgets making it just as heavy as MS products?
Minimal installations usually does not install at all..
Last Linux ecperience before a logner break from Linux, was with Redhat 8.0 and Mandrake 9.0. Both installing and running smoothly.

Puppy is also pretty good on light hardware.

I have a PII Gateway "Solo" running with Arch Linux. I haven't even tried to put a graphical interface on it, but it sems to run just fine.

AntiX is a good Lightweight Mepis Distro also.

It should run on most computers, ranging from 64MB old PII 266 systems with pre-configured 128MB RAM to the latest powerful boxes. 128MB RAM is recommended for antiX. The installer needs minimum 1.2GB hard disk size.

Thanx for all the suggestions/Your experience. I tried DSL, Puppy, XUbunto, Zenwalk, gNewSense, Vector Linux and Mandriva One before posting. But unfortunately without any success. I will now try Your suggestions: Lightweight Mepis, Arch Linux - thanx for Your suggestions and patience..
