This is tangentially related to geek-related pursuits, I swear. When I'm bored I like to read the blog of Wil Wheaton (Wesley from Star Trek: The Next Generation) and today he introduced me to a very cool new musician. Well.. at least she's new to me.

Zoe Keating plays cello. However the way she does it is fascinating to me. If you can catch a video (there's one on Wil's blog) she plays one track, loops it into a laptop, and plays over herself in real time. It creates a sort of one-woman string ensemble. Maybe I'm just weird, but it's a neat effect. She's an independent artist too, so if you like her album (I did) you can get it DRM-free on Amazon or the physical disc from Amazon or her site.

This isn't an advertisement. I just found a neat new artist and thought perhaps someone else might appreciate listening to her.
