Here's a puzzling one! Linux = motion sick??

It is a known effect of the wobbly windows in compiz if they are too wobbly. If there is too much motion blur this can also occur.
It could also be that it is refreshing his screen at exactly the frequency that screws with his brainIf we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Can't say I've ever heard that one before. I mean, I've had operating systems make me sick before, but that was more on a "can't-believe-they'd-release-this-crap" basis and not physically motion-sick. Weird.

Personally, I think he was making the whole thing up because he's an avid gamer. So how do fast-paced first person shooters not make him sick, but Ubuntu does?

Seriously, maybe by chance his screen refresh rate
was set to 60 Hz, same as the line voltage (US).
That will cause eye strain.

I know it sounds weird, but a little while ago I upgraded a monitor from 17" to 19" and I've received nothing but complaints about it although I myself don't see it. I've checked and checked again, but I really don't see what is wrong with the monitor. But the user is (or rather was) furious about it and wanted his old monitor back. He complained about the 'shaking' of the screen, and he claimed it gave him headache.
He switched his monitor with a co-worker and now both are happy. Weird...Can't tell an OS by it's GUI
