first I want to say thank you in advance for your guy's answers

I am a newbie with linux , Iam doing a project from school where the teaches is asking us to find out about 4 filesystems compatible with linux and their key functtions that the filesystem provides, can anyone out there tell me or help me to find these answers, I have already look and I was not able to find anything.

"Compatible with Linux" is a little vague. There are lots of file systems that Linux can access, but it must boot from a posix spec file system. Those would be ext (defunct), ext2, ext3, reiser, and jfs that I am aware of. ext4 has been speced and is being tested. Linux also has its own swap format.

I'm not about to do your homework for you though, the rest is for you to look up.
