    Must-have Linux programs

I thought it would be a good idea if all of us shared our ideas on the best Linux programs to have, with a short description of the program and a link to where it can be downloaded from.
My own contribution to this list is a program called Paud.
As per the description on the site :
"PAUD is a disk image that contains filesystem/system utilities, such as e2fsprogs, mc (midnight commander), parted, and more. PAUD is ideal for rescue/administration purposes and transferring files from one filesystem to another for windows users. "
I have found it useful to write this image file to a floppy (which then becomes a boot floppy) and use parted to manipulate all partitions including root.
    It is available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/paud/
In case a similar topic is already posted (I couldn't find it), please disregard this post.

Hmm. Well, for me being a gamer, there are a few "must have" gamse in the open source community that I thought I'd throw out there. These are programs that if they're not included by default with my distro, I install them before anything else:

Frozen Bubble : Basically a very well done clone of the SNES/Arcade game Puzzle Bobble. Very addictive

Chromium B.S.U. : Overhead scrolling OpenGL shooter with a distinct Linux slant. I use this program to test out my 3D drivers after a fresh install.

GNU Nano Editor : My favorite simple text editor for those little textfile tweaks you need every so often. Simple, small, to the point.
