    Tickling Linux

    Hey,

My daughter was given an old IBM Thinkpad T21 which was dragging XP around like a dead cow on a piece of string.

Considered Ubuntu, VectorLinux and PuppyLinux. Installed VL6.0 Standard (I have a little experience of RedHat/Fedora/Solaris use at work though never installation). Install took a couple of attempts but now it's working I am really quite impressed. Whether she will appreciate the glory of Linux geekdom remains to be seen

Some wrinkles remain to be ironed out but I guess that's to be expected.

    That's me!

    Dave

Hi!! Hope she enjoys Linux. I have been on the forums for a long time, but have never actually installed Linux....wanted to read up first. However, I have a friend who LOVES Linux. So my first installation looks like it may be Linux Mint, my choice. I still don't know a whole lot, but I got lucky....I got someone to harass!! Hope she likes Linux, I will be posting my new journey soon!
