PCLOS Dev. Team leaves distro.... not surprised.
The main article can be read on this week's edition of distrowatch weekly.
The gist of the story is that Texstar left for over a year, came back prior to the release of PCLOS2009.1 Final, said it wasn't completely up to par, which offended the development team, who is now leaving. All the derivative distros are leaving as well.
haha... that Distro has really digress since 2007-Final. I hate to say it, but I agree with the development team's position. Either way, I'm really glad I've just moved on from it.Using Linux since June 2007

It wasn't ever my personal favorite, but it's sad to see distributions fracture due to internal squabbles. These sorts of things don't help the view of the Linux community as a whole.
That being said, the idea of one person "owning" a distribution is probably what caused this whole mess, and I'd like to see less pet projects like this being made. I'm frankly amazed things like this haven't happened yet with Slackware. Perhaps Patrick is just more personable, or carries a bigger whip.

Although Slackware is classed as a "one man" distro, in practice it isn't because Patrick gets help from some individuals. When Pat was seriously ill a few years back, Slackware was basically run by some of his pals (I think they included some devs from slackware.it) and volunteers from the community. I think if anything happened to him, Slackware would probably continue in some form whereas the same may not apply to some one man distros.

I agree with both of you. Pet projects like these are exactly what one of the departing developers of PCLOS said they are, "Leadership suicide." This project appears destined to fail; or at the very least, some more digression is inevitable.
However, I would love to be proven wrong.Using Linux since June 2007

Not to mention with what happened with Damn Small Linux and its derivative (if it can be called that) Tiny Core
