    Switching to Trackball Wheel Mouse

I've been using standard optical and laser mice for years now but have decided to try a Logitech Trackball Wheel Mouse to see how that goes. If I can adapt to moving the cursor with the thumb, these things look like they'd be really comfortable to work with.

Have any of you used them, and if so, where you able to adapt easily enough?

Yeah, I saw one of those on eBay the other day and thought it looked very interesting. I've never tried one but would like to see how they feel the first time I run across one in a computer store.

I figure it might take a week or more to adapt to the trackball, as well.

I used a Logitech trackball (and I still have it) when I had this Toshiba laptop, some 10 years ago. I remember getting used to it very fast.
There was no wheel on that one though and that stopped me from using it.

That's good to know - hopefully it won't take me long to adapt, either. I'm used to getting work done on my machine and don't take well to lots of fumbling around.

I have been genuinely amazed at the difference it makes to the pain a normal mouse caused.

The vertical mice look a bit strange, but they also look much better for ergonomic reasons.

Maybe I'm just the odd one out here. I tried using trackball mice a few times. Never got used to it. Some folks I know swear by them... to me they just feel weird.

I'm not sure that I'll be able to adapt either, but it will be fun to find out.

Same here, I just got so used to my wheel mouse, when I tried using a trackball, I couldn't even use it long enough to figure out how to copy/paste without right clicking. That's sad when I see it in print. *looks guiltily at his abandoned trackball project*
