I worry that they will dumb down the interface too much but Zeitgeist does look interesting. Now if they could make it like LCARS
Ah well XFCE is still looking good. 4.6 is a vast improvement over previous versions! If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

I'd look forward to Gnome getting a bit more polishing but I think that screenshot wouldn't be what I had in mind!
I'd be thinking Mac OS X more than some more silly functions that do the opposite to what they're intended for. I hope we're not heading for a situation where we get solutions looking for problems and end up with another broken desktop.

I'm not a huge OSX fan, but it has quite an elegant desktop interface. It is all very well integrated and smooth feeling, to say nothing of the appearance. I think for the next generation of desktops I'd rather see that kind of elegance rather than another pile of widgets or some new take on navigation that while nice looking is actually slower and more inefficient than what it intends to replace.
I guess what I mean is I'd rather see something clean and integrated from the bottom up with a clear purpose rather than gluing on some more services on interfaces that are as much effort to use as they are useful. If we're going to go with a Plasma like approach...well on the KDE side I've just found that Plasma causes most of the problems, using most of the resources of the raw desktop and yet offers little in terms in productivity. Even now it still feels like there are bits of sticky tape holding it onto an old-style KDE desktop and that's the same feeling I get when I see this new Gnome interface.

Right-O!
I'm with ya now, sorry for making you take the long route!
I'm not real fond of the widget/desktop thing going on with KDE4 either, it's still weird to me.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

I hope gnome 3 will be customizable, because I like clean and clear desktops.
