I can recompile my whole system (emerge @system) in less than 8 hours, and I use KDE.
    .

You got that right, I used to be able to read the emerge output before I got my new machine, it's nothing but a blur now and I think it took me about 9 hours to get it fully off the ground and running. It almost wasn't as much fun, but who am I kidding right??

Congratz Hazel, somehow I knew you could do it.

Excuse me, what's root beer? Here in England, they drink beer made out of barley and hops, not roots.

Hazel, root beer is a flavoring for soda, like orange, or grape, or pepsi-cola. I have not drank any alcohol since March 10, 1990 so I could not toast you with any beverage made with alcohol. I do not know of any but I'll bet someone has made a beer from some kind of root somewhere.

As I remember from my one experience of Root Beer (on holiday in Canada nearly 30 years ago) it was horrible. I couldn't understand how the locals could down it with such enthusiasm

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Cheap root beer is just awful tasting. I do not normally drink any soda because it just runs through me. A look at the list of ingredients; on the can or on the bottle, that go into making soda should discourage anyone from ever drinking it. When I was a kid, though, root beer soda was the best of the bunch.

Hazel, I can not even fathom how complicated it must be to do what you have accomplished!
