I picked up a couple of the movies on Blu-Ray in November. Pretty nice picture, and I got them for $8 a piece.
Back to BSG - you might not notice it yet but the soundtrack is wonderful on that show. Bear McCreary is in fine form. My favorite pieces are the ones involving the opera house (at the end of season 1). I won't say much else. You'll notice it.Registered Linux user #270181

Oh, I love the music. In fact, the opening theme song gives me chills every time I hear it, and I catch myself humming it all day long, even at work.
I was looking online the other day for some short clips of the music and ran across this youtube video of what is titled as an extended version of the opening song, and it has some nice visual special effects:

I'm not sure all of that music is actually from Battlestar Galactica, but it seems to fit well with the effects shown in the video, and anyone not familiar with the show might like the music or the visuals.oz

I've been watching Farscape and trying to get into it via Netflix streaming but have a problem with any show/movie that mixes human characters and puppets. I have heard that the first season is a bit slow compared to the later ones, so I'll be watching a few more episodes trying to overcome these issues and give it a fair chance, as I've read so many positive reviews about the show.
Regarding Battlestar Galactica... I'm through the first two seasons already and will be starting season 3 later today. I'm very much looking forward to reaching season 4.5 where the disks become available in blu-ray format from Netflix.oz

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is showing on the SyFy Channel tonight at 8 pm CST for anyone that might be interested:
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (2009) (V)
I've read many reviews saying that it's not worth the time and effort, but having never seen it, I can't say.
Edit: Ok, I watched Battlestar Galactica: The Plan tonight and indeed it was very poor, at least in my own opinion. I can't recommend it at all.
Edit #2: Now I've also watched Battlestar Galactica: Razor and found it to be better than The Plan was, but neither of these TV/DVD movies seem to be of the same quality that the series itself has been.Last edited by oz; 01-13-2010 at 02:50 PM.

Okay, I'm finished with the entire Battlestar Galactica series now and must say that it was quite an adventure that I will never forget. It truly saddens me for it to come to an end, but at the same time the 4 week marathon that I've just been through to see the mini-series and all four regular seasons has been wearing on me.
If I'd known it was going to be this good, I'd have gone ahead and paid the full price for the complete series on blu-ray from the start. For anyone that is a sci-fi fan and hasn't seen this show, I very highly recommend it.
So say we all!
Edit: can any of you that are true fans compare this version with the original 1978 series? In other words, did it come close to being as good as this in your opinion?Last edited by oz; 01-19-2010 at 10:54 PM.
