Looking for some new surroundings!
Greetings!
I've been a stalker of this site for about a month and a half now, and decided to test the waters and see if I can swim here.
I'm a UNIX/Linux administrator, and have been in IT for 11 years. I work for a large energy company, supporting one particular region in California. At home, I mainly run ubuntu and OpenSolaris, whereas at work I've sopprted everything from RHEL to IRIX and many things in between.
I'm a very big hobbiest of technology, who happened to make a career out of it. I love the freedoms Linux based OSes and Open Source applications have given me. I'm not a linux apologetic, nor am I a crusader. I think people have the right to like and run any OS they want, proprietary or not. I especially enjoy the challenges of making multiple OSes live in harmony with eachother. I can be opinionated at times, blunt and to the point, but my intentions are always genuine. I truly enjoy helping people out. I get a great deal of satisfaction in watching some figure out a problem, and being a part of their solution, even if it was to simply point them in the right direction. I don't keep score, I don't track post counts, and I don't compete to "out-help" other members, or compare one person trying to help with another. I believe that the value I could bring to any forum about linux is about linux and my experiences with it, and I hope to share those with the community here, as well as learn more about this OS we all have in common. Based on the nature of what I've read on posts here, I believe this may be something I have in common with a good majority of this forum.
Anyway, I suppose that is my long introduction! I look forward to hopefully being an active part of this forum!
Cheers,
T.

Welcome to Linuxforums, T!

I like your attitude. And while I don't really stalk much, I do slip into lurk mode from time to time. And then sometimes I go off my bean entirely. But that's another topic. It's good to have you here.
Peace!
