    Introduction

Good morning I am new to Linux Forums. Actually, I am a newbie to the computer science world. Although, I have toyed with linux and other operating systems I have never ran a computer. The box has always ran me. I took FORTRAN IV many years ago. My reason for joining Linux Forums is that I am making a career change and felt this site would be a good place to obtain a purchase point that will complement formal education and on-the-job-training.

My formal education and experience is in the construction industry. Began my career many moons ago digging ditches as a plumber’s helper. I have a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from ICS and have taken courses at both Oklahoma State University and University of Virginia.

As I indicated above I am looking to make a career change. My intent is to obtain a degree in computer science. My first step is to obtain a certificate in networking.

As time rolls on I will be asking some extremely basic stuff please bare with this old fellow.

    Good news for you, assembly!
Since you're new to computers and computing, that just means you won't have any old habits to get over. So you're already a half step ahead on the learning curve!

By the way, Welcome to LinuxForums!
