iTtitude of Mac Users - Not so much a linux question but still interesting
I was reading a novel, the picture of dorian gray. I used this quote to write this on another site:
Thesis: Throughout the novel, Oscar Wilde includes diction to show his dislike for Macs.
...
Oscar Wilde reveals his computer preferences through the thoughts of Dorian Gray. He equates "the slimy pavement" to "a wet mackintosh"(Wilde 164).
...
It is clear that Oscar Wilde prefers PCs to Macs through his use of language and the thoughts of Dorian Gray.
...
"I'm Oscar Wilde and I'm a PC" -Oscar Wilde.
I did this for the benefit of my friends so they could get a good laugh out of it. I found however that some of my friends posted angrily about how macs are the best and how all other computers suck. I have seen this attitude in mac users quite a bit. Here is my hypothesis: mac users tend to be more vehement about the infallibility of their product and scornful about other systems. I concede that this attitude is present within every person about their favorite system but in my experience I have found mac users to be the worst. Has anyone else come to the same conclusion? If so, what happened between you and a mac user? Feel free to argue against me too.

Maybe because they are used very often by artists. And artists tend to be somewhat eccentric
.
Also Apple's marketing suggest that they sell "lifestyle" products. And consequently such an user might consider any critique as an attack on his way of life -- taking it very personally.Debian GNU/Linux -- You know you want it.

Not only Mac users and Linux users will defend there turf.
Windows proponents dig in and defend MS products almost as fiercely... sometimes more so!

Ah this is true but like I said before, I have seen this before I posted that.

As much as I'd like to take the bait (being a former Apple fan myself, and having known quite a few perfectly well-reasoned and pleasant individuals who love Apple and don't really give a damn what you use at home), this thread is flame-bait.
Every sub-culture has its zealots. Linux has the likes of Richard Stallman. Microsoft has Steve Ballmer. Apple has, well no one particular person but a collection of vocal fans. My point is these people are a vocal minority and to judge an entire subculture based on the voices that yell the loudest is short-sighted at best. Let's not get into this.Registered Linux user #270181
