    Firefox Updates

This only seems to be a problem on my work machine (which runs XP), but has anyone else been annoyed at the frequency of Firefox updates lately? It seems like every other day Firefox tries to update itself on my work machine, and either due to bugs in the updater or my strange network topology at work, it almost always fails. Yesterday I was informed that 3.0.9 was available, so I downloaded and installed it. Today I'm informed that 3.0.10 is available... when will it end?

I thought it was 'find a bug' - 'fix a bug', repeat.

Unlike some commercial browsers where it goes 'find a bug' - 'find a bug', repeat.

Yeah, it's probably a good thing but I'm just on edge today. I swear someone saying "Good morning" to me might set me off.

Yeah, the frequency of updates on Windows FireFox always got on my nerves. I usually turned off the auto updates and handled it manually once a month or so.
Like you and Roxoff say, probly not a bad thing, just irritating as hell!

I think perhaps they could roll up all the updates over a week and release a new version once rather than pushing a new version within a day of another.

According to Firefox Release notes, 3.0.9 had critical security bug and it is fixed in 3.0.10.

I guess it would really depend on what they are fixing. If it is something critical then I like the idea that it is fixed ASAP.

I can see the logic behind that.

Personally, I think that the FF team has done a tremendous job of making updates pretty much painless, and fast. Most of them are fixing security flaws that can leave one open to malware attacks. I don't have any problem with them, myself, and I let it update when it needs to, both on Windoze and Linux. My philosophy on this is "better safe than sorry"!
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

See, my annoyance lately has been that the auto-update mechanism in Firefox doesn't run properly on my machine here at work. It will tell me an update is available and try to download the update, but once it's downloaded it will error out and I have to manually download the new version anyway.
