    A new home for TechieMoe

The paperwork still needs to get processed, but the wife and I made a bid on a house yesterday and it was accepted! Pending a favorable inspection report and our financing going through, we'll be moving into a new house next month. It's an exciting (and stressful) time for us.

There are a number of things we're looking forward to, and some things we're not, but I think we have a good idea of what we're getting into. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks.

    Congratulations, Moe!
I'm glad to hear that it went through for you. Take it from me, getting a home set up and in order can and will be a stressful thing, but if you just step back and look at what you're working towards, everything else will start falling into place for you both.

    Again, congrats!

    Thumbs up

Congrats and may the force be with you and the wife in the coming weeks.
I have been going through the same thing last year but me and my little lady came out very happy!

Home is where your boxes are! Just make sure you have a goodly sized storage space! Like disc space, in a house stuff (data) expands to fill the available space, plus 10%...

Congratulations! Nothing like owning you own home, especially if y'all have been at the rent game a while. It's nice to know those payments will go into your ownership rather than the landlord's pocket! Good move and best wishes!

And paying down the principal is always a good idea. If you add a couple hundred $ to your monthly payment, you can reduce a 30 year mortgage to about 15 years. Consider it a really good savings account. After all, how many banks/credit unions pay the same amount of interest you are paying for your mortgage? The number, off the top of my head, is somewhere around 0, I think...

Good Luck TechieMoe. It is truly an exciting time when you are just getting on the property ladder. If you both accept that is will be scary and stressful - to the point that will argue* quite a bit and if you accept that those arguements are in reality just stress relief then you'll be fine.
