Newly-released GPL games from 3D Realms
In case you haven't heard, 3D Realms is closing down, which is sad. However, before they do, they've released several of their old Apogee Software titles with GPLed sourcecode. They're not groundbreaking by any means, but now fans of these games are free to port and improve them. I think all software houses should do this after a certain amount of time.

This is still great news, I'm very happy that some light came out of this. Maybe no Duke Nukem Forever but if you're going to go out of business it's good to see your works live on.

Hmm. Im trying it..its not that bad
It got quite flashy graphics, Reminds me of very old time...When i started using computer. X_X..
May be Duke Nukem 3D should have HD Texures. Higher Resolutions, Shader 3 Support, and OpenGL 2 rendering.

If you have the retail CD, there is a high-res add-on you can download that improves the graphics somewhat.

You might be surprised. The point is, now that the code is GPL, fans can create updated versions of the games. Many of the games that come with GNOME and KDE are remakes of older arcade classics (Robots, Nibbles, Xgalaga, etc). Imagine how much quicker a Linux port of these might have come out had the source code been available from the start.
