Uptime

We had a Windows 2000 PC out in a seriously dirty factory floor location. The PC was totally covered in greasy dust, and it was HOT. They had complained about it sometimes getting very slow, so I did an uptime, and was SHOCKED to see it was at 499 days and 11 hours (I've got a screenshot somewhere). Must be a near Windows 2000 record not even taking into consideration the environment it was in. We rebooted it, and went on to add about 50 windows updates to the machine...

Nha...
IMO win 2000 was 10 times as good as XP.
XP is truly an example of software insanity.

PS: My Debian box ran a lot longer though(and would still do if I wouldn't have updated it)

I hate the XP interface - bloat and confusion just for the sake of making changes IMHO.
I just got my daughter's room wired with cat5 and her "new" SUSE 10.0 box is online and up-to-date. Runs sweet on an old cast away 700mhz machine with bumped up ram.
Still figuring things out, and the jukebox is a nice plus.

For my server, since I finished its last, and last!, install uptime is currently at

Code:
20:07:37 up 63 days, 1:57, 3 users, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.00
For some reason, its nice that it made it over two months

I am still happy that I downloaded, burned and installed a distro all by myself. It even works!
