Well, I can't believe no one has mentioned MPD.

I use MPD, with my preferred clients being Ario or ncmpcpp.

You can run both server and client on your localhost, or over networked machines. (I have an old laptop that I use pretty much only as a dedicated music server.)

I recommend madplay. Although personally I'm starting to move away from mp3s so I'll be looking for a decent ogg player.

    Hi folks,

Thanks for your advice and suggestion.

Totem Movie Player 2.22.1 (Movie Player using GStreamer 0.10.18 and GNOME) on GNOME desktop can play MP3 files download on Internet. However if after playing the MP3 files direct on website Totem can't play the said file download on clicking it on the File Blowser. I must reboot the PC before Totem Movie Player can play the said MP3 file.

Please advise where shall I check and how to fix the problem. TIA
