    It might help if you tell us about where you are located, maybe someone living near you can recommend a local store for you.

    I honestly only buy Dell because their warranties are so great. If they have the same warranties in India I'd still recommend taking a look at them. For under $450 you might be a bit stretched unless you can get the same computers for cheaper in India...I would definitely stay stay away from Sony (probably can't get one for the price anyways). The least problems that I've seen running Linux on a laptop are from Dell, HP and Toshiba are relatively good (Toshiba you'll have to tweak the sound a little most likely), HP might have some video problems out of the box that you'll have to work on.
