Which Certification
I have searched numerous forums about Linux+ or related certifications. They say Linux+ tests your basic knowledge of Linux. Moreover, they say RedHat certification has more weightage. At the same time, RHCE is costly. Many companies like BSD, Novell offer their own certification. Which is most recognized in the software world? Or any one apart from these four I mentioned?

This question is answered so many times...X_X.
You can search on forums..
Remember RHCE - RHCSS, RHCDS, RHCA are completely concentrated on Linux system Administration...If you think System Administration is your prefered Job Profile... RHCE is the best.
Certifications like Linux+ are general Linux certifications.
The answer to your question is...
RHCE is most recognised in the software world......
Why?
1. Because, Its available most of the places in World, unlike other certifications.
2 .Standard of RHCE exam and certification won't change on your training centre or place.
3 .Exams are completely practical, and demands the real 'Linux Skills' rather than objective theory.
4. RHEL 5 is reputed distribution in Corporate world.
5. System Administration is always needed with Linux Systems, this stream also needs knowledge of general things in Linux, so even if you are RHCE it is considered better than Linux+

What about the Novell and BSD certifications? Do they hold the same significance?

Novell certifications are good, but they aren't everywhere.
Novell certifications are also concentrated on system administration.
For now there is nothing live Novell > RedHat, Nowell < RedHat.
But Red Hat's course structure are more sophisticated and simplified..
I have seen employers putting "RHCE" as an requirement. Novell certifications aren't that famous in Indian Subcontinent.
And about BSD, Once you are known to be good with Linux, it it considered that you can work with any *nix and *nix - like system.
This is all my experience, refering my country - India, but you should also look for other opinions.
and suggestions.

To me also, Novell is not famous. However, I have seen many RedHat training centers in my country. I also believe that they are requirements for some jobs. SUSE is not available in our markets while RedHat and most derivatives are. If I can manage to give exam excluding the official training programs, then I am going for RHCE. Thanks for advice.
