Do we have a Community In Orkut?
Hi all,
Just was looking some of my older threads,I found I'm missing few friends from this forum.
I think will be better for us to create Linux Forum community in orkut (or do we already have such community ?) ,So that we will be in touch,if needed.Reason why i think we need social forum is ,for example I may switch for non-linux technology,in that case I'll coming here rarely-so obviously missing friends - whom i met here.
What's your thoughts on this?- Lakshmipathi.G

Part of me thinks it's a great idea, but then as someone who develops a social networking site in my day job the greater part of me doesn't really want to socially network in my spare time...

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

elija , Even I'm not regular user of Orkut, I have really few college friends and school friends whom "scrap me" (monthly once or twice), But the thing is I know I can contact them,if needed. Able to sent any messages at will, there will not be feeling of missing any guyz. They are there,I can reach them when i need or they can reach me when they need me.
Even though I can sent messages from LF too but I thought It will nice to know their progress in others forms of life.- Lakshmipathi.G

Some folks from here and a lot of linux users from all over the world hang out at F.U.N. social networking site. You don't have to be a Ubuntu user to join. It is just a name.

There are a lot more LFO members there than ya think. You will recognise some by their avatars except for me.

You are never alone in you thoughts and deeds. Somebody, somewhere will be there who do the same thing or think the same way...

I too had the same feeling so have created a community called 'linux-localites' in orkut. But was not sure if I should publish it here.
But, I had thought of it as community for Indian linux users(not to be mistaken for narrow mindedness). I thought as we are geographically nearer we can also physically meet each other, extend our geek-relationship to personal friendship, arrange get-togethers etc.. not as formal local LUG though.
I think I should extend it for everyone and if you wish we can change the name to something else. Or create a new community all together... FYI, my orkut profile is 'Sai Vinoba'.A candle looses nothing by lighting other candles. - Khalil Zibran.

rokytnji,hope to catch you there

saivin, Yes,I'll check out the community soon.
Linux Users are Linux Users,It doesn't really matter whether they belong to same country or different. So I don't anything wrong in creating a community to match specific countries needs. But, I had thought of it as community for Indian linux users(not to be mistaken for narrow mindedness).
Yes,sure i think it would be nice to meet and also share how to improve linux awareness in our own environmentI thought as we are geographically nearer we can also physically meet each other, extend our geek-relationship to personal friendship, arrange get-togethers etc.. not as formal local LUG though.
