Seems like websites just aren't what they used to be...

More and more I find so many websites that are slow, constantly not even working, or frequently down for maintenance. Even when they are working, they take forever. A good example is lxde.org. That site is constantly not working. Facebook is constantly undergoing maintenance. Those are just the common ones. The point I am making is that it I find that I frequently run into more and more websites that are poorly maintained than I used to about a year ago. Between poorly implemented flash and java scripts, budget cuts, poor economy, and incompetent people, it's becoming an epidemic.

    Correlation:

too much flash/java script = poorly maintained site.
    Using Linux since June 2007
    Distros: Mint 12
    SPECS: AMD Atholon 64 X2 5400+, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800 GTS

Yep... just like with anything else even remotely technological. The more parts you add, the more complex you make it, adds up to more things that can go wrong!

It's mostly caused by slow ad servers and crappy coding in the actual banners / skyscrapers

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Yes, I usually run firefox with Adblock plus and refuse third-party cookies. By the way FF 3.5 beta is faster, but not very stable. It crashes unpredictably. One time it will load a folder of tabs & work great, next time it may crash or freeze. However, it is definitely faster.

What amazes and sickens me is the amount of ads some websites try and force you to read.

Hence the popularity of AB+ - don't leave home with your laptop without it!

Yes,websites with pop-ups really annoy's me.Though I have pop up -blockers ..some website won't move to next page. So I uncheck pop-up blockers and it shows me a pop-up ,which i close and proceed to next page

I personally hate sites that od on flash.. especially gaming and sports sites.

But for the bigger sites (myspace, facebook) etc. the constant maintenance is absolutely necessary to keep the sites from functioning properly. Not trying to defend them.. but these sites got 200 mil + users who log in frequently during the day and the popularity of the site makes them a target of hackers/scammers. Similar to windows being a popular target, social networking sites are fast becoming a dominant target also .

Again not defending them just presenting a different viewpoint.
