I'm Using Fedora from FC 2,I too agree, they didn't concentrated enough Fedora 7 to Fedora 10 almost similar. (I may be wrong.)Where as Ubuntu and Mandriva overtaken them,in terms of improvement over their previous (ubuntu and mandriva )version. Now glad to hear Fedora 11 comes with lot of features.
wow !! It comes with ext4
I'll try it soon.

I've not used or tried Fedora since FC2 was released and probably won't get around to trying this version either.
Personally, I consider "easy" very much like beauty, in that it lies in the eyes (or the mind) of the beholder. Hope that it works out well for those that do try it and they find it as easy as they'd like for it to be.

I have a copy of the LiveCD, but I'm having a hard time motivating myself to play with it.

Good Lord, Fedora's on 11 now? Are they going to come up with a new naming convention for their releases or is this just going to go on and on and eventually they will have names like Fedora 91 and Fedora 113?

I got both the Fedora 11 LiveCD and DVD. I wanted to put it on the new 64GB SSD that I got for my Eee PC, about 2 months ago. Well, I couldn't let that drive sit empty, and I couldn't wait any longer, so I put Ubuntu 9.04 on it. Now I don't want to wipe out Ubuntu so soon after getting it all set up.
So, I want to install it on a 16GB SD card instead. I had Fedora 10 on a 8GB card, so I know it works fine that way. I first booted into the LiveCD, and tried to install from that. A ssd should be formatted as a ext2, and when I tried that the formatter faulted. It said that I had to use ext4 (the default).
I then tried the DVD. This time it accepted the ext2 format. Funny thing was it found two existing ext2 partitons. These were the ones that I created with the LiveCD install attempt. When it started the install, it aborted with an error about /proc.
I'll try again later.Paul

Curious to see how your Fedora 11 Install to SD Card goes Waterhead. I have a 900 EEE And just picked up a couple of Dane Elect 8 gig SD Flash cards (they are SDHC capable) and I am trying to torrent the Fedora 11 Live CD and the DVD using Bit Torrent. I've done Easy Peasy installs using Unetbootin on a pendrive. But all this other stuff is gonna be new territory for me and I haven't ran a rpm distro since Mandriva 2008 which turned into a borked experiment in the long run. So like I said. I am curious to see how it goes for ya.

When I tried to install F11, it said
when I tried to format it with ext3, it saidbootable partitions cannot be on an ext4 filesystemWT*! Tried getting help from irc and later came to know that I need to have a seperate /boot partition which should be ext3 and the root (/) should be ext4. ?!root partition does not match the live image you are installing from. It must be formatted as ext4
I then could install it successfully. But found there was no
1. OpenOffice
2. seperate partition editor (not the one with the installer program). On a livecd we expect one.
3. media plugins (as usual)
The new palimpsest disk utility keeps complaining of disk failure which is not even an year old. Don't know if the results are accurate or the software is buggy. fsck with error correction does not report anything bad.

I've always liked Fedora ever since I first tried Redhat 5.2. I will check it out in a few days, when they figure out what works and what doesn't work.

It looks like the LiveCD is limited as to the install choices. For the Linux user who likes to customize the install (99% of us), the DVD is needed.
I got the installer to finally work, and installed it to the 16GB SD card. It took a loooong time. Then after the reboot, I got a a grub error. I won't have time to try and fix it until later tonight. I don't know what went wrong. I selected to put the bootloader on the SD card, as I didn't want to screw up the current OS.Paul
