Though I've messed around with Linux over several years now, I just don't use it enough to be comfortable at the command line. Currently I'm using CentOS 5.2 in one VM and RHEL 5 in another. My big hurdles right now are to change the daily mysqldump so it runs at an earlier time and to move existing Bugzilla and Subversion applications from the VM running RHEL 5 to a new VM with the latest and greatest of each of these apps. It is frowned upon where I work to use a GUI (overhead); but I'm really struggling trying to do simple things like setting up jobs with crontab.

    Hi richlich

Try to keep to one job at a time and you will quickly get the hang of the command line. Remember to keep it simple but you will pick up quicker ways to do things as you go.

It can be a steep learning curve but keep at it and if you need any help just shout
