Switching to LINUX from Windows
I would be very appreciative of the efforts of Fedora Developer Team and Red Hat Team for the fedora 11 Leonidas and continuous developments.
I recently switched completely from Windows to LINUX. Initially it took a day or two to understand how LINUX works and to get familiar with. But, with all excellent support from community forum members, it was so easy to set-up additionally required applications as well.
I would definitely recommend fedora 11 to an average computer user, LINUX offers all features with great similarity as compared to other operating system. Operation of Linux is little-bit different as compared to Windows in terms of installing new applications, but, it is not difficult to understand and follow simple instructions. Functionality wise LINUX is more powerful than Windows. It would not be difficult for Windows user to switch to LINUX and give TUX a try!
Even though fedora 11 met more than my expectations, requires native supports for few more applications. Overall not bad, Good Show!
I personally like fedora 11 more than Windows. For me it was not so difficult than what I was thinking prior to the migration to LINUX. I really fallen in LUV with TUX.
Thanks...
PS: I equally like UBUNTU as well. But running f11 at present.

A friend of mine told me other operating systems are more secured than LINUX, I replied paying more money does not guarrenty secured Operating System, but, it's how many times you get security patches updated.

Firstly, welcome to the Free world my friend. Secondly, welcome to LFO.
If you are satisfied and enchanted with Linux, part of the credit should go to you too. Its clear from your above post that you are a guy who is not afraid of getting hands dirty. Not everybody talks about getting 'support from community' and 'set-up additionally required applications'. Most want out-of-the-box experience.
You sound apologetic for not having UBUNTU (hmm.. all caps
) as your main distro. Don't be.
One senior's signature reads, 'Ubuntu is 'A' linux distribution, NOT 'the' linux distribution'. I nod in complete agreement.

Welcome to Linuxforums, BonniesTUX!

I like your enthusiasm. To get familiar with linux inside of a day or two indicates to me a lot of energy and focus. I envy you that.
I too, run Leonidas on my rig, and was pleasantly surprised by the improvements over previous releases. I really wouldn't consider the previous releases good beginners distros. This one though, is a lot more newcomer-friendly. I agree though, with the sentiment that no one distro is the distro. Different needs... different hardware... different tastes. And I guess I wouldn't really want it any other way.
Again, welcome.

I have two quite different systems. One is a dual quad-core workstation with dual HD displays. The other is a laptop with a dual-core cpu and 4gb of RAM. I run CentOS 5.3 on the workstation, and Ubuntu or XP on the laptop. I like them both, but they serve different purposes. Use the right tool for the job. That's my sentiment.
