leaps and bounds !
Is it just me, or was 2008, the year linux just really blew up ? I mean as far as easy to install and running right out of the box...about 6 years ago, I bought a " linux dummy" book, with a linux o.s disk on it, I tried for a week and could not get it installed, then, 2 years back, I got a live c.d out of linux format magazine, and got a completely dead laptop breathing again and eventually got it working great, now I have 3 copmuters running different distros and have done 6 more installs for people with ' broken" ( i.e windows issues )...with almost no problems at all.

I believe it was '03 that I installed my first Linux (Red Hat 9). Hmmm, it was doable back then... with the help of a book

You're right, the progress of Linux amazes me. It goes fast. Can't tell an OS by it's GUI

I've noticed a big difference in the last year with wifi capability right out of the box! That was always a nightmare!

I think Linux advances light years compared to other OS projects. Just look at the development of Compiz and Desktop effects in the last year alone, it's enough to boggle my mind.
