A lot of people I know did not intend to use Linux, simply because they are lazy and wouldn't try anything new...But when I ask this simple question: "Would you try Google Linux??", their answer is always "I would try anything that comes from Google". Everyone loves or loves to hate Google, compared to other competing companies that people ...well, just hate most of the time. I can't wait to try the first beta, alpha, whatever version comes out. Can you?

A long article with little information.
Will it be another linux distribution?
Will it be something completely new?
Will it be based on unix as Dos, Windows, linux, bsd,... are in one way or the other

What else than small and light? (Puppy is both and it exists already)

Official Google Blog: Introducing the Google Chrome OS

this answers your questions, it is going to be a linux distribution, the main thing that interests me about it is that they are developing a new windowing system, I find that X is in need of some competition.

I'm in no hurry to try it, as I can't quite bring myself to trust Google when it comes to privacy issues, but if it turns out that there is no need to worry, I'll experiment with it a bit.

I'm glad that's not just me. They do some impressive things but are trustable with our data?

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

So far I trust Google with my data more than any of the others. I'm not sure why, maybe it's the perceived openness - but whether that is just a perception rather than reality I'm not sure.

That said, I'm not interested in even using the Chrome browser because of privacy concerns. If however, Google do start throwing a big weight behind Linux that can only be a good thing.

This is such a double edged sword. At first I was like, Cool! Stick it to Microsoft! Plus, maybe Linux will finally get better hardware support if a major corporation like google demands it.

    Then I thought t0 myself...PRIVACY.

Google has shown no remorse in intruding into people's business for money. They will likely track your browsing and searches to "better enhance your experience." Which I find distasteful. If their OS though is FOSS, that shouldnt be a big deal because with access to the source code Im sure whtever built in spyware they use (and yes they will use it) can be turned off.

So I guess more positives then negatives...yay Google....sort of.

Well at this point it's all speculation regarding how exactly the OS is going to work, what features. privacy etc. I am more interested in the kernel use and if it will work with all the apps out for linux right now. Or will it introduce a completely new system.
