Install Openoffice on DVDs?Is it possible?
My son needs to do a movie review and needs a portable openoffice.
He saved a file on .odp and went to school.
The school uses Microsoft Office Professional 2003 instead of Openoffice.
The school uses Windows instead of Ubuntu
I need a quick reply because my son is running out of time
I use Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.
I downloaded the OOo_3.1.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe file and have Wine and Crossover Trial installed.

I'm pretty sure there are Live CD distributions that include OpenOffice. Best thing is to take a look at a few Live CD notes to see which carry it.

If he wants to do this on a Windows machine, then all he really needs is a USB memory stick and a package called PortableApps, which provides versions of many applications that can be run from removeable media such as USB memory stick. One of the apps happens to be OpenOffice.

    Have a look at

PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB drives

They used to do a portable version. A better solution would be to open the file again in OpenOffice and save it as an Office format. Open Office can handle many formats including the standard Microsoft formats.

You can always save your work from within OOo in Microsoft Office format.
