Hi welcome to the forums.
I really did not understand your question. What do you mean by 'redistributing minix/freedsd/fedora source code'?
Are you asking that you are doing a project on operating systems or such and want to know what are the implications of using code form these projects? i.e., if they have any licensing issues like Windows for your use in college project?
I don't know about Minix. But FreeBSD licensing is more permissive than GPL which is used by most Linux distros. But the licensing issue is really complex. Within a project a part of the code may have different licensing.

Re--Re-distributing the source code.
Thanks for your reply.
I'm a unix user.
I am very much interested in OS Source code re-distribution(recompiling the source in new format/pattern) to make my own flavor.
The OS which I'm choosing is MINIX, FreeBSD, Fedora. Since these OS are opensource this can be redistributed for non-profit organization(college/universities).
Its Just a research Project.
My option is MINIX, because its small(300+MB) in source code. You can find more info in wwwdotminix3dotorg. The MINIX 3 Operating System .
Hope you are clear with my reply. If you need more information, sure I can provide it.

Sorry but I still don't understand by re-distributing source code.
The source for the OSes you mentioned is readily available either on their installation cd/dvd or on the website which can be downloaded. Anybody is free to download them.
On the otherhand are you planning to brew your own distro based on them like say PCBSD based on FreeBSD, Linux Mint based on Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS based on Mandriva...? In that case ya they permit this activity.
P.S.: I do know about Minix but not sure of its licensing nature. Not all opensource projects are equally permissive.A candle looses nothing by lighting other candles. - Khalil Zibran.

I'm planning to brew up my own flavor. Hope I have to do a big case study on License matters
