    Talking I am not new.

I'm 42 years old (in honor of Douglas Adams), that hardly counts as "new".

I've been using Ubuntu for roughly 3 years, and am finally getting really good at it. Still haven't compiled my own kernel yet, but I'm sure that'll happen eventually; I really enjoy learning about the innards of this OS.

Anyhow, just a wave "hi" to everyone already here.

    Hi Jill!

This is a nice little place. Everyone's been nice so far. And I'm sure you will contribute as much to these forums as you do on the Ubuntu forums. I'm glad you're here!

Ever thought of moving on from Ubuntu? It's a lovely distro for newbies but you sound as if you're ready for something more toothsome.

Ubuntu is a lovely distro, period. I find it absurd to think of Ubuntu as "Linux with training wheels" and I also think it's a mild insult to everyone using it to think of it that way.

I like playing with other distros, too. I have Arch on a VM to play with, and Puppy running on a really ancient machine working as my living room OGG player.
