Ubuntu preinstalled is not a big deal. Tuning it so that everything works like flash,etc.... is what matters. I just mention this because I have seen refurbished Dell and IBM Desktops with no operating system installed with the same specs for between the 70 to 80 dollar range.

I get these notificatios sometimes from GearXS and Newegg sometimes. Problem is, I have already a dual core IBM M57 Desktop that I picked up for a $169.00 refurbished and I have a IBM M41($49.00) that I have tricked out to 1.5 gig of ram(sdram is expensive, let me tell ya). Both Desktops run dual DVDRW (about $26.00 a unit) also. And Both External Hardrives (IDE 250 gig in external enclosures). With enclosures and ide drives my cost was $55 a piece, and I try to find good deals also. So all in all your link isn't a bad deal. I would make sure you at least get USB 2.0 and would research what kind of ram comes with that Desktop if you decide it is worth getting. Good luck with it

I these deals fascinate me ....because I purchased my first computer ( an Apple II e) for 2400 dollars.......even when my son went to college in 2000....I purchased a top of the line Dell for the same amount....( which sits in my closet....waiting for a linux install).....I am amazed that price...even refurbs...are so low.....I will never spend a lot of money for a machine again......Thanks for the link....I was really interested in that asus netbook.....unfortunately...it was out of stock.....

    Thanks for your reply......

More than half of what I keep is obsolete. It is fun to see what I can build out of old junk, though.
