I used to hate Linux ...
But now I like it
About me:
I am going into my last semester as a student in a Network Administration BT degree. Been 'fooling' with linux since 2006 - ubuntu on my destkops - and in 2007 took a class in it.
Well I got the wrong taste in my mouth and really wasn't too much a fan of anything open source (unless it was for windows).
A few class projects later I realized that this linux thing isn't so bad
In fact, when I got my netbook I installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on a 16GB SD card. Been using it steady since May ... haven't touched a windows laptop in 3 months!
Just thought I would introduce myself... I won't have much to contribute but a lot to read and ask!
Thanks

Welcome to the forums... and glad you've taken a liking to Linux!

Once you've used Linux for a while, you really do realize what a pain Windows is should you have to return to it for any reason.oz

Howdy and Welcome. I grin when folks down here say they would never touch open source or Linux and I ask what browser they are using and they say Firefox or Opera,

I still have my "server" / HTPC and gaming laptop running XP. If I can fiure out how to get my TV card working with Ubuntu I'll switch over. I just use it for basic network file storage and TV watching and viewing.
I have a Mini ITX PC (pent dual core) that I use for virtualization. It is running XP as the host OS - probably switch that to something and run sun virtualbox on it.
What won me over to firefox was tabbed browsing before IE supported it.

Not to mention that without open source software, Microsoft would be dead beaf...
