    Windows 7 IP address limited connectabilty

    Hi, I have limited internet connectivity and no network access in Windows 7. I look at the IPconfig and it has a lot of ff0faa4dbd2:22gfdlj in place of any iP address except the IPv4 one. What do I do about this? Reinstall.

    Tried IPconfig /refresh and it failed. I have a netgear MIMO router. Oh and my PC connects to the router fine. The IP address is the problem otherwise I would get numbers instead of f0faa4dbd2:22gfdlj.

    Anyone with a solution?

    Thx. Your friend,

    Renegadeviking.

    There's nothing wrong, it just Windows 7 in IPV6 mode.

    BTW this is a LINUX forum, what gave you the idea that we would help you on your windows box in a redhat category?

    this was very lulz worthy.

    You are not getting IP for some reason, I would check if your network card is working properly in a device manager. Also check your ethernet cable. Do you get light when cable is plugged into motherboard (assuming its a desktop)? If you have another computer, would you be able to get an IP using the same ethernet cable.

    This is my output of ipconfig:

    Code:
    Windows IP Configuration

    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

       Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
       Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::b06c:796a:3b4b:be52%11

    To think that you are actually getting some intelligent responses to a WIndoze question in a Linux forum! Gee, I wonder what would happen if I posted a similar Linux question on a Windoze forum?

    Possibly a complete breakdown of order, followed by a spiraling descent into flaming chaos!
