New on Linux, started with Ubuntu
Hello, I have been using Linux now just 2 weeks, and while it did teach to me that I have lot to learn, Ubuntu is a great system. Easy updates and software management, fast start-up and shutdown, and it seems to be very stable. I also skinned it a bit and now it also has a great look.
Unfortunately I cannot run Photoshop or Rhino3D on it, as these are my main tools. Well, I guess there is some software that makes that possible too but I did not get that far yet. Possibly some of you can give me a good advice on that.
And a last but not least, I want to be part of Linux community.
Best, Rauno

Welcome to the forums. You may have to run Windows on VirtualBox to keep using Rhino3D.

The most common replacement for Photoshop in Linux is Gimp. It is somewhat different and can take a while to get used to but is a very good application

Sure, I have it and I have used it a bit too. It is a great program. Problem is that I need a good CMYK support with CMS, and I also exchange files with others that are using Photoshop. So, it unfortunately won't do at this time.
