I can happily say that I've never used Vista so I can't speak on it, but KDE 4.2.x needed lots of work the last time I used it. I really haven't been much of a fan for the appearance or effects of KDE 4.x. but lately I've been running KDE 4.3 and it definitely seems better than previous releases after lots of tweaking.

All that said, I guess I prefer KDE since I have no inclination whatsoever to even try Vista. My next goal will be to continue using Linux and pass altogether on Windows 7 as was the case with Vista!

    Let it rip!
LOL/ In a Linux forum no less. My wife runs Vista on her Newer Acer Desktop. I had to bump up the ram on it to get any decent performance out of it. Aero Desktop still needs a better graphics card to. All this on a newer Desktop.

On my motorcycle shop Desktop. A Ancient IBM M41 running AntiX 8.2 with KDE 4 (not sure which 4 version Debian Squeeze gave me from the repositories cause I used a meta installer) I run circles around her newer Acer in Speed and function and Eye Candy (which I don't use. Never tripped my trigger). I like the minimal Desktop environments, (Fluxbox, Icewm) but I thought it was time for me to learn new tricks since KDE 3.5.

So guess what I voted for

"Let it rip!" was kind of a joke of course.

I have the same. My old Dell laptop runs most of Compiz fusion with ease and that alone runs laps around the vista effect eye candy wise.

gotta love to brag about linux wh00ping windows.

I've not tried Vista either, I hope I don't have to even mess with it. I'm still convinced that I can get the wife to switch to Linux for Internet related stuff and use XP for her must have apps like Sony Movie Studio and a few other Windows only apps.
I'll abstain from a biased vote here.

I use Vista on one of my computers, and IMO KDE blows it away in the looks department.

From what I can tell, KDE is stabilizing, so I will move to it full time on my Linux boxes (the ones that have X on them anyway).

They've just put Vista on some of our systems at work, where I'm goofing off now.
I'd have to vote for KDE, since Vista has a couple of annoyances that negate any wow factor the eye candy might have.

1.If it goes to screen saver and we try to log back in, it won't recognise the smart card or keyboard input. We have to reboot using the power button.
    2. Every so often, the screen goes black for a second. This is bothersome.
    3. It is slow. We've talked about having the preceding shift log on for us about a half hour before we come to work so it'll be up for us. We're only half kidding.
