Confessions:
I have 2: number 1. I have never installed anything from terminal, I always used synaptics::: 2. ( really embarraced about it ) wracked my brain for 5 days trying to get the wireless to ( see ) networks available...found out yesterday, that I was right clicking network manager, instead of left clicking network manager..it was working all along....whew, I feel better after these confessions...give it a try

I feel the need to unburden myself as well.
1. Last year I did a CRUX 2.5 install and was rather hasty when configuring /etc/fstab. I didn't configure it correctly to have /home mounted on a separate partition I created for it so it got made in the root directory instead. It was several weeks before I realised and corrected my error...
2. I STILL use XMMS and make no apologies for it!
There. I feel better too.

I shamefacedly confess:
i) Last week the filesystem started to find corruption errors. I know from experience more trouble is to be expected and instead of fixing it now when I have time, I am lazy and merely shoved some files to an USB stick. Most probably a major system crash will hit me hard when I really cannot afford it in the next weeks.
ii) I still use Firefox2 just because my favorite theme hasn't been ported yet.
iii) I still have Flash installed and prefer it over Gnash, making it the last remaining proprietary piece of software on my computer I am aware of.Debian GNU/Linux -- You know you want it.

I have a disk containing Linux software that I downloaded before I realised there was a package manager.

- The Ubuntu partition on my laptop is sadly underused as of late. I basically log on now and then to keep the software up to date, but don't do any work on it.
- I signed up for a Microsoft seminar in November because they bribed me with a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.
- I'm not wearing any pants right now.
Two of those are true, and one is not. Happy guessing.Registered Linux user #270181

I fell for sudo rm -rf / once when I was new.
99% of the time I don't actually check the PKGBUILD script when installing from the Arch User Repo, even though it's a huge security risk.

I've packratted DOS and Windows software from as far back as 1991.

I too also prefer xmms to any other audio player in Linux. (That's NOT xmms2)
Small and efficient, like the original WinAMP.

I never seem to get around to backing up my data.
btw I like synaptic. I use apt-get for one-off installs because it's simpler but I prefer synaptic for the monthly update."I'm just a little old lady; don't try to dazzle me with jargon!"
