Windows 7: do you plan to purchase it?
According to all that I've read, Windows 7 is all set to be released on October 22nd, so are any of you planning to buy it?
I've totally passed on Vista and have never used it on any computer, but I would be interested in checking out Windows 7. It's just that I don't want to pay those huge prices that Microsoft wants for it, and I won't use a pirated copy, so I probably won't buy it unless a deal comes along that's too good to ignore.
How about the rest of you?oz

If I buy a new PC (I still have a single-core Athlon) and it comes with win7, I will make it dual-boot, so I can play games in windoze and surf the web with Linux.

No plans to buy it here and no desire to use a hookey copy so this Windows will pass me by. I did get Vista with a laptop - and I used it for all of two days

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Not buying it at any price ...
My laptop came with Vista pre-installed ... laptop out of warranty period so Vista is gone
. Downloaded a Windows 7 beta and put it on a VM ... lost interest in it & won't buy Windows 7. I just can't see me buying any M$ products ... I don't want to contribute to their funding - at any price. Unless Windows went opensource I don't think I could trust it anyway ... too many tricks in the past
Next system I buy will have Linux or be OS free ...

I'd probably give $25 for a legitimate copy of Windows 7 just for checking it out and experimenting with it a little to see what it's all about, but that's about the most I'd want to pay for it because it's highly doubtful that I could ever stick with it. I do agree that if they'd opensource it that it would be a much more appealing OS, at least from my own point of view.

Nope, won't be buying it. I run a clean shop here

ozar if you're interested in just toying with it for a day or two there were keys for the release candidate distributed around the net. It's very close to the final release if not identical. There'd be nothing dodgy about trying it out as it has a built in expiration anyway next March.

Yeah, I started several times in the past to grab the RC and play with it some, but just never got around to it. I might still do it if boredom should strike.

I won't be purchasing it, but I do plan on attending a launch conference in November where I've been promised a free copy if I listen to their spiel.

That sounds like one of those deals that might be too good to ignore.
