New Ubuntu based distribution - need beta testers!
Hello everyone, I hate my first post to be like an advertisement, but I need some help!
I've recently created a Linux distribution called Spri Linux which is based on Ubuntu. It is designed to be extremely lightweight and to breathe life into older computers. It uses IceWM and has replaced default Ubuntu apps with lighweight and functional
At this point I realise there might /ill be three responses;
- We already have Puppy/DSL/other lightweight distro
- Xubuntu and Lubuntu are official and lightweight
The difference between Puppy/DSL and Spri is that I wanted a lightweight distro that had modern hardware support, and I believe Spri does due to its Ubuntu base. I also believe that apt is the best package management tool, and obviously Spri uses apt + synaptic. Xubuntu is, I personally believe, a long way from being lightweight, and Lubuntu is nowhere near completion.
I do however, need beta testers, hence the need for this post. If you could take the time to download the ISO and try it on a virtual machine/old machine I'd be extremely greatful.
The website for download is sprilinux dot com
If you find a bug submit it at launchpad launchpad dot net / spri or on the forum which you can find on the main site.
Hopefully I'll now go on to become a valuable member of the community.
Thanks for your time
